Super September

The legacy following the response to the pandemic MOT extension will remain with us for years to come.

Known in the industry as "Super September", the next two months will see an extraordinary spike in demand for MOT testing. Due to the automatically applied extension, 5.3 million less tests took place between March 30 and July 31 2020 in comparison to the same period in 2019, meaning once the extension period was up, placed the date of expiration alongside the existing increased autumnal demand. This makes September and October exceptionally busy for all MOT test centres across the country.

Jack Cousens, head of roads policy for the AA, said: “With more than 5.5 million cars deferring an MOT it is crucial that they are tested to ensure they are safe to use.

“MOT centres are already feeling the strain and with ‘Super September’ looming, savvy drivers can get ahead of the game.

“Usually people leave booking their MOT to the last possible moment, drivers won’t have that luxury this time.”

The Avia Autos booking portal will be available for our motorists looking to secure their preferred MOT slot, early booking is advised.
